I'm Obsessed With Horseshoe Crabs

I love horseshoe crabs.

There. I said it.  People say that admitting you have a problem is half the battle.  If I admit I have probably fifty horseshoe crab molts (and some straight up preserved adult shells), the other half of the battle is won.

I have them stored by size and condition. In large plastic bins.  Waiting for my brain to come up with stuff.  I have way too many ideas, but too many visitors (grandchildren, my adult children) to be able to go hog wild with my inventions.

I don't want witnesses.

These are the most remarkable creatures.  When it's molting time, or egg laying season, and I'm in my collecting mode, I hand the molts out to children passing by on the shoreline. I take every advantage to open a dialogue about the AWESOME AMAZING HORSESHOE CRAB!  But I'll go into that in another post.  For now, here are a few of my horseshoe crab home decor items that I've made, and sold.

I like to make beautiful things for the serious homeowner, and whimsical things for kids and adults with a kid still living inside.  Either way, making someone happy with one of my creations makes me happy too.

Corn Husks and Acorn Caps Sunflower Wreath I've seen some wreaths on Pinterest constructed out of corn husks and pine cones.  They are so cute and resemble one of my favorite flowers, sunflowers. Platform Bed

I have a very small bedroom and a very large driftwood collection.  You see, I'm an artsy type.  I craft sculptures and home dec items out of shells, seaweed and driftwood.  I have sorted all of my supplies and have them stored in various sized plastic bins.  One day, it all got to be too much. I basically couldnt walk in my bedroom. But I couldn't work out of my basement because it's HUGE SPIDER CENTRAL.  Gross! I was also tired of lugging everything out of my bedroom into the kitchen in order to work the counter.  This became problematic for my housemate also, who took exception to my half finished projects lying about so that he was unable to use the stove.  LOL I had a beautiful four post bed that took up 60% of the floor space.  It had to go. Junk Trunk to Coffee Table....Easy!

Good Morning! I am happy to share my DIY   coffee table project. I hope you like it! I have a beautiful glass-topped and metal base coffee table that I somehow manage to bang my shin into every.single.day.  No joke.  My left leg looks like I was in ten rounds with a dragon.  I decided to buy a new coffee table, preferably one with storage for my driftwood hoarding problem. The only thing stopping me was that I'm always "funds-impaired." I saw a pretty rough footlocker/trunk for sale on Facebook's "Marketplace." Luckily it was still available for the bargain price of $5.00.  SCORE!!  I brought it home.  The black fabric covering it was torn in places and it was missing a portion of the locking latch. Big deal.  If your friends comes over and notices a missing portion of the locking latch on your footlocker/trunk coffee table, they aren't your friends!
